I met Kirsten a little less then a year ago and it felt like we knew each other for years already. She’s one of those women you immediatly have a girl crush on (or am I the only one who has those?!). She’s effortlessly stunning, and surprisingly unaware of her impact on people. Next to that she’s so creative, kind and uplifting.
So when she asked me if I wanted to photograph her newborn baby, I immediately accepted, and got a bit nervous at the same time.
I often hear that photographing small children is challenging to many people. I love it. I play with them, ask them to kiss their mom, let them jump on their bed, higher! I try to just let them be and have fun. And maybe a cookie or three. A 7 days old baby? A complete new ball game, or at least to me.
But I’m also very aware time is a joke when you have a newborn baby around. And it seems to go faster every baby you add... The time that those feet and toes are pink and wrinkly, their skinny legs curl up and that little butt fits in the palm of one hand is over before you know it. And you might think you remember every detail, but you know what? You don’t.
So this weekend I went, fell in love with even more people and met Beer. He was the sweetest, most cooperative child I ever met.
And I’m happy to report Belle and Bloem didn’t mind showing me how high they could jump!
